."Does he work for Cascade, too?""No, we " Gavin sighs."We met at the auction there's an auction in Hawaii once a year. He'sa member, not an employee."Alex just nods, and Gavin's grateful when the questions stop. They finish with their showers andshut the water down, and Gavin takes Alex back upstairs.Back up in Gavin's room, ten minutes to go, Gavin points at the couch."Take a seat," he says, and he gets the cuffs and collar they've been using. He buckles the first cuff onto Alex, and Alexcloses his eyes."Going to be all right?" Gavin murmurs."I'll be fine, sir.""It won't be like this the next time," Gavin says, moving to Alex's other wrist."You'll know whatto expect, and you'll have a better idea about who's going to be there."Alex opens his eyes and tilts his head a little."Do the owners make a regular habit out of theselunches?""When they're shopping, yes. You'll see several of them more than once before you actually goup for auction. It's one of the few opportunities they have to see how you'll perform in front of agroup, or just to get their hands on you.The more they can see you before they actually bid, thebetter.Let me have your ankle." Alex lifts his foot up, and Gavin buckles on one of the anklecuffs, then takes Alex's other foot and buckles on the other.Alex's pants are long enough tocover all but a glimpse of the leather, but it isn't as if ankle cuffs get a lot of use at thesebreakfasts anyway; owners tend to be too interested in moving slaves around to want to bucklethem to anything. All the same, Gavin pockets a handful of double clips, and he moves out into the center of theroom, snapping his fingers at the floor in front of him.Alex slides off the couch and crawls over, and Gavin sets his teeth together; he really didn't need to see that right now."Turn around," Gavin murmurs.Once Alex is facing away from him, he buckles the collar onand then slides his hand around the front of Alex's throat."If you get into trouble, if someonedoes something that you need to be away from immediately, you find me.Nobody gets to bealone with you unless I say so, and nobody gets to hurt you or fuck you unless they clear it withme first.Don't let anyone tell you different.""No, sir," Alex whispers."I'll wait for orders from you."Gavin rests both his hands on Alex's shoulders and closes his eyes."I know," he whispers back.He steps back and grabs Alex's leash off the coffee table."On your feet.I think we can godownstairs now."Alex stands up, and Gavin puts the leash on him, looking right into Alex's eyes when he does it.Alex's eyes are dark, his expression controlled, and Gavin reels the leash in until there's barelyfour inches between his hand and Alex's collar, no slack left at all."Come on," Gavin growls."Let's show you off."They aren't the first people there, which surprises Gavin. There's a girl over on the far side of theroom, someone Gavin only vaguely recognizes he thinks her name is Aria. Her trainer, though, that's Trevor, and Gavin nods at him in greeting. He takes Alex over to a table near Trevor's just far enough to give them a hint of privacy, notthat privacy is going to be a concern in a few minutes.Alex nods at Aria, who winks back athim, and Gavin takes up the slack on Alex's leash and drags him to his knees.Alex settles downon a cushion and slides his hands behind his back."Nice," Trevor says."Is this the one who came in last weekend?""That he is.""And you've already got him working a lunch.I'm impressed."Gavin reaches out and rests his hand on the back of Alex's neck.It isn't subtle, but fuck it.Rightnow he doesn't much feel like being subtle."He's doing well," he says.He unclips Alex's leashand loops it over the back of his chair."I'm just hoping he'll find the right owner.""I can make some calls if you'd like," Trevor offers."I'm sure I know a few people who'd beinterested.""I'll keep that in mind," Gavin says."How's your girl?""It's our third month looking for an owner for her," Trevor admits."We'll get there." She settlesher head on Trevor's knee, and he runs his fingers through her hair. There's some movement on the other side of the room, and Gavin looks up to see an owner andhis slave walk in.The slave's tall, just about the tallest man in the room now; dark brown hairbuzzed down neat, smirky little grin on his face. The owner's blond, slim, taking in the roomwith some combination of confidence and arrogance, and Gavin remembers who they are as soonas they start walking over Brian Patrick and Rhys Fenton.Alex's first contacts here at Cascade. He remembers Alex talking about the two of them the way he'd gone quiet and blushed andgotten hard just mentioning what they'd done with him.He hasn't given Gavin a lot of details, butGavin's seen enough of them around the Thursday lunches to have an idea what they'd be afterfrom him.Gavin's sorry he took the leash off Alex's collar.Brian stops a respectful meter back, nodding to Gavin."Gavin.""Brian," Gavin answers, nodding back."How are you?""Doing fine, thank you
